Follow the instructions in this section to refresh water in your Flex Farm.

Instructions:

A full water refresh is recommended based on your base number TDS reading of plain water from your tap or sink. For example, if your base number is 220 we recommend you refresh your Flex Farm water every 1-2 months for optimal growth.

If you will not be running your Flex Farm for a period longer than 2 days, it is recommended to drain the tanks as the nutrient water should always be circulating with the pump.

Steps:

  1. You can refresh your water during the middle of the growing cycle. The plants will not be harmed if the pump is turned off for the duration of the water refresh. However, plant health will be impacted if the pump is off for more than a few hours.

  2. If you have a floor drain, the easiest way to drain your Flex Farm is to roll it to the floor drain and open the drainage valve connecting the tanks. You can also roll your Flex Farm outside to drain. Be sure to securely close the valve after draining.

  3. One method of draining is through the irrigation line. First, unplug the pump and wait about 30 seconds for the water to stop flowing through the Flex Farm.

  4. Detach the vertical irrigation line from the Y fitting at the back of the Flex Farm. Place the detached end of the vertical irrigation line into a deep bucket or sink.

  5. Plug the pump back in and drain the water from the Flex Farm. Once the water falls below the pump inlet, unplug the pump and reattach the vertical irrigation line to the Y fitting.

  6. A third method to drain is to place a bucket below the front right drip line drain valve and open the valve until the water level is below the pump inlet.

  7. Drain the remaining water using the drain valve at the back of the tanks or a ShopVac.

  8. Close the drainage valve after the water is drained out of the tanks.

  9. Remove and clean the pump filter by running it under a sink to clear away material buildup.

  10. Spray 3% hydrogen peroxide solution and wipe any remaining water and plant material in the tanks.

  11. Refill water up to half full. Water should completely submerge the top of the pump.

  12. Be sure to recheck your pH and nutrient levels prior to planting your next crop.
